How to calculate your work hours
Enter the clock time you started and finished, then enter the total number of unpaid break minutes. Select Ends next day for a shift crossing midnight. The result separates the full time between your clocks from the unpaid break and net work time.
Net work minutes = finish − start + next-day adjustment − unpaid breaks
An example you can check
A shift from 09:00 to 17:30 spans 8 hours 30 minutes. Taking away a 30-minute unpaid lunch leaves 8 hours, or 8.00 decimal hours. A paid break stays within your work time, so do not enter it in the unpaid-break field.
Working across midnight
For 22:00 to 06:00, select Ends next day. An unpaid 45-minute break leaves 7 hours 15 minutes, or 7.25 hours. Without that selection, an earlier finish is flagged rather than silently treated as an overnight shift.
When this result needs another check
This is clock-time arithmetic, not an attendance or payroll record. It does not account for daylight-saving clock changes, travel between time zones, paid leave or contractual rounding. It accepts shifts up to 24 hours. Equal start and finish means zero hours unless Ends next day is selected.
Why is 7 hours 30 minutes not 7.30 hours?
Minutes are a fraction of 60, not 100. Thirty minutes divided by 60 is 0.5, so the decimal total is 7.50 hours.
Can I add a whole week?
Use the time card calculator. It keeps individual shifts separate, checks for overlapping entries and adds exact minutes before displaying the decimal total.
